1988-91
The red hairy caterpillar menace is under control sans the pesticides, using local methods and material.

1993
Trials extend to manage pigeon pea and groundnut-- a major cash crop of the Telangana region, without pesticides.

1990-95
Government promotes Integrated Pest Management (IPM) within the Intensive Cotton Development Programme after a study declares that Indian cotton is the most contaminated in the world. A major source of the contamination was pesticides. IPM outlay under the VIII th five year plan increased from 0.3 crore to 4.5 crore. Despite 12000 field workers to promote IPM, it fails.
